L14 WW I USN Torpedo Boat Lanterns
A nautical collector's dream!
Made by Perko in Brooklyn, New York in the 1914 to 1915 era, these World War One very special running lights were designed for the
Navy's Torpedo Boats. This same type of motor vessel was called a P T Boat in W W II.
The brass wings on each lantern were to restrict the light area and direct it forward and slightly to the side.
This pair of Torpedo Boat lanterns are in truly amazing condition with the heavy old brass hardly showing a blemish. Sadly, the top stack on the Port lantern has been punched down a bit and the gorgeous blue lens on the Starboard lantern has a battle crack.
Looking inside each lantern tells the usage story. We've built special bases for added new sockets and wiring using LED bulbs to provide today's lighting.
Lanterns are 16 1/2 inches high. If the beefy brass carrying handle is up it brings the height to 18 3/4 inches. Front width is 16 inches and the lanterns are 10 inches deep.
A rare and rather historic pair of Torpedo Boat Lanterns!
A shipping cost of $150 has been included in the price shown below to the lower 48 U.S. States.
