This is a wonderful old whale oil lantern made by Peter Gray.
Peter Gray's firm started in Boston in 1878 and he changed the company name to Peter Gray and Sons in 1900. Making this lantern 120 years old at least.
It also looks to never have been used, the inside looks brand new, it has been polished.
The tag reads "Peter Grey, Maker, Boston".
Lantern is 12 inches high, 6 1/2 inches wide and 4 1/2 inches in depth.
The oil font shows it was made for whale oil.
