Co3 Old Scottish Binnacle
This is a antique ship's binnacle from the early 1900s made by the firm of Christie and Wilson, Glasgow. The highly polished solid brass hood stands 48 inches tall including the handles of the two oil lamp holders on each side.
The base is solid teak with a nice oiled finish. The compass face is 8 1/2 inches wide and the compass is dry and accurate. It is 18 inches wide from one side of the soft iron compensating ball bracket to the other and is 14 inches deep. This binnacle shows its seagoing age with a few service bumps and dings. From a sizable commercial ship or a large yacht, this is a wonderful piece of historical nautical instrumentation.
