This is a beautiful old boxed sextant by Fordsham & Keen and dates to the mid 1860's. Made by Fordsham & Keen located at 17 South Castle Street, Liverpool who was only in business from 1858-1978. It's in excellent condition, it includes all 4 scopes and the mirrors and filters are all in excellent condition.
The maker was known for making fine nautical instruments for the Royal Navy.
The beautiful mahogany, dovetailed box has the original owners initials inlaid on the lid of the box and has very old green felt inside.
Box is 10 1/2 inches x 11 inches x 5 inches.
