This is a beautiful old boxed sextant by C. Plath. It's in wonderful condition, including ebony wood, brass and bone additions. Sextant is complete from peep hole to filters, index and horizon mirrors are like new with a tiny loss of silvering. 3-piece filter shades are in fine condition with no cracks or chips.
Sextant is fitted in a mahogany keystone-shaped travel box, it is truly a museum quality marine antique. Box is 11 inches x 12 inches x 4 inches.
C. Plath begun in Hamburg, Germany in 1862. His sons continued the company until the 1950's. This piece we date 1890's-1900's.
